Treatment for TMJ and TMD

Dr. Crete’s philosophy focuses on conservative methods of treatment. The first step of the treatment is a proper diagnosis of the cause for the pain and symptoms.

  • Digital radiographic images are taken of your jaw joints, the jaw bone, and the base of your skull to evaluate the condition of the bones.
  • A thorough evaluation of all the muscles related to the functioning of your jaw and jaw joints is performed using muscle palpation and muscle testing methods.
  • A complete analysis of your existing teeth is completed to identify any loose teeth, infections, or broken/worn teeth.
  • Evaluation of your teeth and jaw joints in all aspects of chewing and any clenching and grinding patterns are assessed.
  • Determination of the appropriate treatment for your condition
